So in any event you're better off not getting your Galaxy S7 wet if you can avoid it. And there have been instances with other phones in the past in which there was confusion about a waterproof phone actually being covered for water immersion when it comes to warranty returns. If you've banged up your phone, it might not be completely IP68 compliant anymore. There's going to be some fine print here, however. The point is you'll be able to get your Galaxy S7 wet without it dying. Or when you're asked to try it out in a little indoor water feature. (You know someone's going to do it.) What you get with this sort of waterproof rating is piece of mind that you probably won't kill your phone should it accidentally be dunked or spilled on. When you drop your new Galaxy S7 in a pool. The lampwick used in the making of lampblack was first soaked in the juice of Lithospermum officinale before burning. 30 grams) lampblack of fine quality could be produced from a catty (approx. For the first process, more than one ounce (approx. In the Chinese record Tiangong Kaiwu, ink of the period was said to be made from lampblack of which a tenth was made from burning tung oil, vegetable oils, or lard, and nine-tenths was made from burning pine wood. Inkmaking from pine wood, as depicted in the Tiangong Kaiwu (1637) It was made by combustion in lamps with wicks, using animal, vegetable, and mineral oils. From the Song dynasty onwards, lampblack also became a favored pigment for the manufacturing of black inks. 1600–1660) of the Ming dynasty has described the inkmaking process from pine soot in his work Tiangong Kaiwu. Several studies observed that 14th-century Chinese inks are made from very small and uniform pine soot in fact the inks are even superior in these aspects to modern soot inks. Pine soot was traditionally favored in Chinese inkmaking. In contrast to Chinese inks that were permanent, these inks could be washed away with water. Like Chinese black inks, the black inks of the Greeks and Romans were also stored in solid form before being ground and mixed with water for usage. To use the dry mixture, a wet brush would be applied until it rehydrated, or more commonly in East Asian calligraphy, a dry solid ink stick was rubbed against an inkstone with water. The traditional Chinese method of making ink was to grind a mixture of hide glue, carbon black, lampblack, and bone black pigment with a mortar and pestle, then pour it into a ceramic dish where it could dry. In India, the carbon black from which India ink is formulated was obtained indigenously by burning bones, tar, pitch, and other substances. The practice of writing with ink and a sharp-pointed needle in Tamil and other Dravidian languages was common practice from antiquity in South India, and so several ancient Buddhist and Jain scripts in India were compiled in ink. Indian documents written in Kharosthi with this ink have been unearthed in as far as Xinjiang, China. India ink has been in use in India since at least the 4th century BC, where it was called masi, an admixture of several substances. A cylindrical artifact made from black ink has been found in Qin tombs, dating back to the 3rd century BC during the Warring States or dynastic period, from Yunmeng, Hubei. Numerous documents written in ink on precious stones as well as bamboo or wooden tablets dating to the Spring and Autumn, Warring States, and Qin period have been uncovered. A considerable number of oracle bones of the late Shang dynasty contain incised characters with black pigment from a carbonaceous material identified as ink. India ink was first invented in China, but the English term India(n) ink was coined due to their later trade with India. Woods and Woods (2000) state that the process of making India ink was known in China as early as the middle of the 3rd millennium BC, in Neolithic China, whereas Needham (1985) states that inkmaking commenced perhaps as early as 3 millennia ago in China. If a binder is used, India ink may be waterproof or non-waterproof.Ī solid ink stick used for the preparation of ink India ink is commonly sold in bottled form, as well as a solid form as an inkstick (most commonly, a stick), which must be ground and mixed with water before use. A binding agent such as gelatin or, more commonly, shellac may be added to make the ink more durable once dried. No binder material is necessary: the carbon molecules are in colloidal suspension and form a waterproof layer after drying. In East Asian traditions such as ink wash painting and Chinese calligraphy, India ink is commonly used in a solid form called an inkstick.īasic India ink is composed of a variety of fine soot, known as lampblack, combined with water to form a liquid. It is commonly applied with a brush (such as an ink brush) or dip pen. India ink is also used in medical applications.Ĭompared to other inks, such as the iron gall ink previously common in Europe, India ink is noted for its deep, rich black. India ink ( British English: Indian ink also Chinese ink) is a simple black or coloured ink once widely used for writing and printing and now more commonly used for drawing and outlining, especially when inking comic books and comic strips. He is an exceptional long range shooter for a guy standing 6 feet 11 inches therefore keeping opposing big men out the lane as well as being a threat in the pick and roll/pop. Expect Pero to play consistent minutes off the bench along with Elton Brand to spell Al Horford and Paul Millsap. Coach Budenholzer and Danny Ferry will have a lot to do with that, but as far as Pero goes, he can definitely be a scouting gem and a piece that continues to contribute to championships. On July 25, 2013, Pero signed with the Atlanta Hawks.Įxpectations: Based on Pero's history of being apart of a champion it may be appropriate to expect a championship in Atlanta soon. Pero's next two seasons would be in Athens, Greece with Olympiakos where he won the Greek League championship and helped the club become the first Greek team to win back-to-back European championships in the Final Four era. Petersburg where he averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds while contributing to winning the Russian Cup championship and a trip to the EuroChallenge Final Four. After winning yet another title, Pero went back to Russia to play with Spartak St. After a brief stint in Russia with Lokomotiv Kuban, Pero rejoined Lukoil Academic, helping the team win their second Bulgarian League championship in three seasons. That season Pero was voted Bulgarian National Basketball League MVP by averaging 23 points and 9 rebounds per game while leading Lukoil Academic to a Bulgarian Cup as well as the Bulgarian League championship. The very next season Pero would play for another Bulgarian basketball powerhouse, Lukoil Academic. In 2006 the team would go on to win both the Serbian Cup and the Montenegro National Cup. In 2005 he joined the very prestigious KK Crvena Zvezda, better known as Red Star Belgrade, of the Serbian league. With AEK Athens Pero would win his first Greek League championship in 2002. His next stop after Rabotnički was in Athens, Greece as a member of AEK Athens basketball club. That would become the first of nine championship teams Pero has been affiliated with as a contributing player. Your browser does not support the audio element.īasketball Background: Pero has been playing professional basketball since 1999, at the age of 17, for KK Rabotnički in the Macedonian first league where instantly he became a champion as apart of a championship team. Listen to this interview where Pero discusses his love for tattoos, food and winning championships. There are so many interesting tidbits about Pero, including him and his wife sharing the same born date. Despite the near 300 tattoos Pero already has, he does not want many more as he plans to run for a political position when his basketball career is over. Much of his body art represents things of the spiritual realm while some include family members. Pero is definitely into ink and while he has many tattoos, none are without significant meaning. The visual of Pero would have one believe he is a strange individual due to him being a few tattoos shy of equaling Miami Heat center, "Bird Man" Anderson. Off the court he is even more interesting. With Pero, you get a big man with the shooting skills of a guard. The Nike Golf “Torrey” pack will see a staggered rollout, with the Air Max 90 G and Air Zoom Infinity Tour releasing on June 14 while the Air Jordan 4 G will arrive on June 16. Insoles boast the same graphic as the AM 90 to complete the look. Under this heel piece sits a full-foot Zoom Air unit that’s stitched directly to the upper for more responsiveness, plus two more Zoom units placed above the translucent outsole’s spikes and embedded in a cushy React foam shell. It’s the most technologically advanced of the bunch and similar in colorblocking to the Air Max 90 G thanks to a sail Flyknit upper with a large purple Swoosh and an iridescent heel piece. Last but not least, there’s the Air Zoom Infinity Tour. Gradient-tinted, spikeless outsoles and a special insole graphic complete the look. The mudguard even boasts a debossed pattern that’s inspired by the bark of the Torrey pine. It’s done up in a crisp sail colorway that’s accented by purple, teal, aqua and yellow accents. Adapting Nike Sportswear‘s iconic Air Max 90 to serve up style and performance for the course, the G’s “Torrey” makeup is inspired by coastal California flora and sunsets. It’s made of a ripstop material and combines teal, orange, purple and black above a full-length outsole plate and removable spikes. The most notable of these offerings is the golf-ified Air Jordan 4, which leaked in the middle of May and was originally thought to be called the “ACG.” Its inspiration is dual-pronged, drawing in equal parts from OG Air Jordan flight suits and the hang gliders and parasailers you’ll often see above the Cali coastline. Remnants of British colonialism still linger in Hong Kong but one cultural aspect you would not expect to see fused with this traditional Cantonese cuisine is that of bottomless brunch. YUM CHA also operates a second dim sum branch at Tsim Sha Tsui. One last thing to note is the non-optional 20% service charge added to your bill. As a food experience, it wasn’t our favourite in terms of overall taste but this could have been due to our narrow menu selections. Dining at YUM CHA Central was certainly a novelty with the gimmick dim sum providing plenty of entertainment. On the day we visited, we were seated one minute after opening but we estimate that the restaurant was almost at capacity by midday. The icing on the cake is the baked pineapple puffs, a trio of canary birds which are presented in a birdcage.Īrrive early (even 15 minutes before opening) as the Central branch is a popular spot for business lunches. Char siu bao (barbecued pork buns) arrive shaped as little piggies, lau sha bao (molten custard buns) feature googly eyes and squirts out warm custard when you poke them (there is a technique to get the right amount of “custard ooze” so research this for your Insta Stories otherwise you will fail dismally as we did!) and the doggy sausage rolls are cleverly constructed daschunds. If your budget allows it, go crazy and order all the Instagram-friendly dishes. The restaurant channels a New York loft vibe with its exposed red brick walls, copper pipes and hexagonal stone floor. The chefs at YUM CHA Central have boosted their popularity with millennials by animating some of their dim sum dishes, encouraging a “camera eats first” culture and simultaneously benefiting from free publicity. This will be the best looking dim sum in Hong Kong Central that you will ever lay eyes on. These were Bevan’s favourite and had I not been paying attention, he would have eaten the last one without sharing with me!ĭining at a Hong Kong Michelin star restaurant is certainly more accessible and affordable with the Tim Ho Wan restaurants so if you’re going to eat dim sum in Hong Kong, it might as well be at a lauded restaurant! If you do miss out though, the Tim Ho Wan Group now operates 46 outlets in seven countries including, Singapore, Japan, the USA and Australia. It seems somewhat bizarre to admit that until I sat down to eat at Tim Ho Wan, I had never eaten the baked version of BBQ pork buns. Thankfully the baked BBQ pork buns improved my mood. Perhaps my epicurean taste buds aren’t as developed as fellow critics, but it is not what I expected from a Michelin star restaurant. The seasonal vegetables were a disappointment a plate of limp lettuce arriving on our table with a drizzle of bland soy sauce. We selected steamed shrimp dumplings, steamed beef balls with bean curd, wonton and chilli sauce, poached fresh seasonal vegetables and of course, the signature baked BBQ pork buns. We sat next to other parties of two and fortunately, we had enough room to use our chopsticks without having to pin our elbows to our sides during the entire meal. Tables inside are manoeuvered to maximise occupancy. Our wait was approximately 30 – 40 minutes and your order is snapped up even before you sit down, meaning that your food arrives within minutes. You can always take a peek at the makeshift list as diners are seated mostly in numerical order depending on party size. If your number is called and you don’t appear, you will lose your slot so make sure to stand close to the podium. When your table is ready, this woman calls out your number over the crackly microphone – but in Chinese only. She then records your number on her paper list and the size of your group. A woman stands at a podium lectern and dispenses numbers to customers along with a tick-box menu in Chinese or English. Instead of an orderly queue around the block, the restaurant has a rather disorderly yet functional ticketing system. You would think that four years after receiving a Michelin star that the hype would have died down but it certainly wasn’t the case at the Sham Shui Po branch on a weekday morning shortly after opening time. The pattern of shapes still goes infinitely in all directions, but the design never looks exactly the same. In the 1970s, the British mathematician and physicist Roger Penrose discovered non-periodic tessellations. Whatever direction you go, they will look the same everywhere. They consist of one pattern that is repeated again and again. It may be better to show a counter-example here to explain the monohedral tessellations.Īll the tessellations mentioned up to this point are Periodic tessellations. All regular tessellations are also monohedral. The underlying tessellation for this pattern is made up of just three elements: the regular octagon, regular hexagon, and irregular pentagon Fig. If you use only congruent shapes to make a tessellation, then it is called Monohedral Tessellation no matter the shape is. You can use Polypad to have a closer look to these 15 irregular pentagons and create tessellations with them. Among the irregular pentagons, it is proven that only 15 of them can tesselate. The simplest polygons have three sides, so we begin with triangles: All triangles tessellate. Looking for other tessellating polygons is a complex problem, so we will organize the question by the number of sides in the polygon. We can use any polygon, any shape, or any figure like the famous artist and mathematician Escher to create Irregular tessellationsĪmong the irregular polygons, we know that all triangle and quadrilateral types can tessellate. A square has an interior angle of 90, so 4 squares fit together to make 360: 360 90 4 Tesselated triangles. Special parallelograms such as rectangles, and rhombuses also tessellate. The good news is, we do not need to use regular polygons all the time. If one is allowed to use more than one type of regular polygons to create a tiling, then it is called semi-regular tessellation.Ĭlick here for the lesson plan of Semi - Regular Tessellations. vector polygonal background with irregular tessellations pattern. Treasury Department sanctioned four entities and one individual involved in malicious cyber activities and fundraising schemes that aim to support North Korea's strategic priorities. "In particular, since the threat group primarily utilizes the DLL side-loading technique during their initial infiltrations, companies should proactively monitor abnormal process execution relationships and take preemptive measures to prevent the threat group from carrying out activities such as information exfiltration and lateral movement," ASEC said. The latest development demonstrates the diversity of Lazarus attacks and its ability to employ an extensive set of tools against victims to carry out long-term espionage operations. The attack chain further entailed the exploitation of a discontinued open source Notepad++ plugin called Quick Color Picker to deliver additional malware in order to facilitate credential theft and lateral movement. The malware is said to be a variant of a similar artifact that was discovered by ASEC last year and which acted as a backdoor to communicate with an actor-controlled server. The malicious msvcr100.dll library, for its part, is designed to decrypt an encoded payload that's then executed in memory. Lazarus, a highly-capable and relentless nation-state group linked to North Korea, was most recently spotted leveraging the same technique in connection with the cascading supply chain attack on enterprise communications service provider 3CX.
